About AzCA
The association that represents Professional Counselors in Arizona. Professional
Counselors are dedicated to helping people meet the challenges of life. They
receive extensive education and training which includes a minimum of a Master's
degree with a solid foundation in human growth and development, psychotherapy
and mental health, career and lifestyle development, social and cultural foundations,
and group work as well as supervised practicums and internships.
Professional Counselors work with their clients in individual, couple, family,
or group settings, helping them to overcome whatever obstacles that may be keeping
their clients from reaching their full potential. Children, adolescents, adults
and senior citizens can benefit from the variety of services that counselors
can provide including coping with change and crises, combating substance abuse,
resolving personal and family conflicts, coping in the workplace, treatment
of mental health disorders, overcoming gender and cultural barriers and developing
life skills Counselors bring a wide assortment of theories, techniques and skills
to their clients.
Specialized areas of expertise focus on mental health, substance abuse, marriage
and families, student development, career counseling, employee assistance, adult
development and aging, rehabilitation, multicultural counseling, and group and
organizational work.
AzCA Misson Statement
The Arizona Counseling Association is dedicated to promoting the development
of the individual professional counselor, advancing the counseling profession,
and using the profession and practice of counseling to improve the quality of
life for Arizona’s citizens.
AzCA Vision Statement
The Arizona Counseling Association is the publicly recognized organization
to which all professional counselors, counseling students, and other behavioral
health professionals belong.
