The Training

The two-day training will provide the participant with 12 hours of education in supervision methods, models and techniques, roles and responsibilities of a clinical supervisor, techniques specific to supervising counselors in the tasks of diagnosis, treatment planning and providing treatment and evaluation of supervisees in their work of assessment, treatment planning and providing treatment. This training will also cover the ethical guidelines and legal requirements for supervisors, using the 2014 Code of Ethics from the American Counseling Association and the most recent Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners statutes and rules. 

The one-day training (on the second day) will provide the participant with 6 hours of education reviewing supervision methods, models and techniques, roles and responsibilities of the supervisor and provide opportunity to practice in providing feedback and evaluation to supervisees in their work. 

Objectives

  • Participants will learn clinical supervision methods, models and techniques.

  • Participants will learn roles and responsibilities of the clinical supervisor.

  • Participants will practice providing feedback to supervisees using case scenarios.

  • Participants will learn skills to oversee and evaluate supervisees in their work assessing, diagnosing, creating treatment plans and providing treatment.

  • Participants will learn ethical guidelines and legal requirements for supervisors.

Presenter

David Walther is a PhD-CES candidate, University of The Cumberlands. He is the Pastor of Counseling at Scottsdale Bible Church where he oversees 100+ volunteers involved in providing tiered care and counseling services including support groups, lay counseling, and professional counseling. David is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and has been providing clinical supervision since 2004 to Masters-level interns and LACs. David is an LPC (AZ), NCC, and BC-TMH. He has been a member of the ACA for over 15 years. He has served as an adjunct instructor at Arizona Christian University and Phoenix Seminary. David specializes in the integration of Counseling and Christianity and is a Certified Gottman Therapist.

Cancellation, Substitution & Refund Policy

Registration cancellations prior to January 20 will incur no penalty. Cancellations after January 20 are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellation notices must be sent in writing to AzCA. No refunds will be made on cancellations made after January 25 because committed funds and forfeited fees cannot be applied to future meetings due to IRS reporting requirements. 

 

Continuing Education Approval 

The Arizona Counselors Association is an NBCC-Approved CE Provider. Participants can earn 12 CEs for the two-day training or 6 CEs for the one-day training.
